    Emacs text coloring

    I have Emacs and use it for all my text and programming work. On other computers, I use it for development and it colors keywords and strings and so on according to the language. However, on my new Linux install it doesn't work--text coloring doesn't happen. How can I enable this?

    search the forums for the keyword emacs,

    there is already a post about turning on syntax highlighting,

    also check out emacswiki.org and look up syntax highlighting.
