cant play halflife and no sound either
well i got this message in terminal that my processor was getting to hot after i tried to play halflife. so seeing this i turned off my computer and let the temp in the computer drop and then i cooled off the room. i decided i didnt want to turn my computer on anymore because i was going to clean it. so anyway i took the processor fan off, cleaned of old thermal compound and then put new compound on.
before i did all this i noticed that half life wouldnt start anymore and it would get stuck on the loading screen and then also i didnt get any sound. any ideas on what might be wrong? and where are all the log files located so i can check where errors are happening?
edit: sound works i just tested it with that test that beaps really loud and i also tried it in ubuntu so its got to be a debian specific problem.
thanks in advance!!

Can you try toggling the ALSA MMap option? I don't know if you can do that in Wine, but if so, try it
