    Graphics Card problem

    Hello,

I have tried installing debian linux on my hp laptop. But there is a problem with, I think, is the graphics card. The linux boots and everything, but right when the GUI is about to load, everything blacks out. Is there a way that I can boot into debian in the command mode, and install the appropriate driver for my gfx card?

    Thanks

Yes, when the GRUB menu pops up, highlight the entry you want to boot, then press e to edit the entry. Go down to the kernel line and press e again to edit that line and add single to the end of the line. Then press b to boot and it should boot you into the command line. I'm assuming that you can use apt to install the appropriate drivers. Also check to see if there is a single mode option to boot into already in the GRUB menu. I don't run Debian, so can't remember for sure.
