It was my understanding that ifconfig the linux equivalent of ipconfig on windows. So how come when I type ifconfig it says "bash: ifconfig: command not found"....

    It was my understanding that ifconfig the linux equivalent of ipconfig on windows. So how come when I type ifconfig it says "bash: ifconfig: command not found".

    You have to be the root user
