how to write 10g .avi movie to 4.7 g dvd

i am new with linux,i hade 10 days ubuntu 7.10 and i want to write a movie 10g to dvd 4.7g for my dvd player.
it 's possible,what i need and how icant do it?

Welcome to the Forums.
The only way I know of, is to split the Movie into smaller files and record it to multiple DVD's.

I find out. i download 10 files rar.
i uncompress and i have 10 folders and 10 movies,and not 10 pieces.
now i try to converte avi to dvd with 2 diferents programs. A)with devede and B) with avidemux.
i will tell after what hapend.

I have had good luck with devede and converting avi to dvd. just be careful with multiple files because it doesn't make it obvious on the total size of the project, so you have have to calculate the size for each file and adjust the bitrate.

worked very nicely for me though. didn't have to use avidemux either.

Hello my friend
I trye both of them programs.
With devede i make an iso dvd and i dont config anything beacause i dont know the parametrs.
The avi file hade subtitle and i dont doo anythink for that.
I try the dvd iso to my ps2 (i dont have a dvd player),it 's ok but the sound is like surround and i have normal stereo tv.
With the anidemux i make an other dvd mpeg but the ps2 dont read it.
I burn both of them with Brasero.
Maybe i did something wrong with mpeg and brasero.
In avidemux have some config for the sound,and i wont to try about.
Do you know why i have this probleme with the sound on iso dvd?
