Making customised kernel for old pentium 2
Hi there, I have an old Pentium 2 motherboard,CPU and ram I'm wondering if I installed Debian and made a customized kernel it would run any better. I don't really have a use for the system and am really just doing this "just because" as part of my learning process with linux.
Thanks guys.

It will run better, make sure to only compile in hardware support that you need and make your kernel as small as possible.

Hehe, no one's going to scream at you. If you need a basic walkthrough, you may want to check out some of the options included in the gentoo handbook under the section about compiling your own kernel, rather than their default genkernel. It's pretty helpful and will help you set basic processor flags, etc.
