installing debian
hi there. I'v been running Ubuntu 7.10 since the day it was released (october i think) anyway, and i want to make a switch over to Debian.
I just wanted to ask, what the small ISO file is? as i want to just install the base of debian (with bare essencials, browser etc) then install my own software on top of that, like do it myself.
Looking at there website i'm getting a bit confused as i don't know what to download. small CD's? Large CD's etc etc. i don't want a whole lot of pakages, just the bare minemal one download, one CD etc
Thanks alot, Tom

Welcome to the forums, Thumper!
Best (in my opinion) to install from the businesscard ISO and then install what you want/need after that directly from the web. You get the leanest and freshest install that way.oz

Actually, it only gives you what you need to download the base system through the netinstall. I always use the businesscard iso when I install Debian.
