    Samba and Windows Vista

    I have my external hard drive [/media/EX_HD] shared using samba, but my Vista laptop doesn't see it in network places.

    nmbd and smbd are both running. smb.conf includes:
    Code:
    path = /media/EX_HD
    readonly = No
    guest ok = Yes
    Searching around, it seems that most people can view the share just fine but can't connect to it. Any ideas as to why I can't even see it? I haven't installed any additional firewall apps like Firestarter or anything.

    Thanks!

    Part of the reason was my rustiness with Windows. I had to set my network to "Private" because it was default "Public" which disallows file sharing. Next, I set my local network IP range as part of my 'trusted zone' in Zonealarm. Now my Vista laptop can see all the other windows samba shares on the network.

    Although, still not seeing the Debian samba share. Must be on the Debian end. Ideas?
