    you sucked , nvidia doesn't support audiochipset under linux
    buy a cheap cmi 8738 it works fine.

    Back to problem :
    Have you installed alsautils package? Have you tried to re-set Audio settings through alsamixer command?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
