    Is there a Linux driver for the Atheros 5007EG wireless NIC? With the base install of Debian 4.0/i386 it isn't detected at boot time at all.

    On linux you can use your atheros card with the madwifi driver.
    And it seems your card is supported
    Compatibility/Atheros - madwifi.org - Trac

    so download and install madwifi
    for configuring the interface you will need the wireless_tools package so install it too

    You will need to enable your "contrib" and "non-free" repositories before you can install madwifi.

    Also, you may or may not need to use module-assistant to install it. Just search on google for "debian madwifi" and you should find a LOT of how-to's.
