what version of debian are you trying to install? etch?
If etch isn't detecting your drive, you might need to use a lenny install disc.

debian 3 is old, debian 4.0r3 is most current version, those are all bootable iso's you just have to burn them to cd/dvd

- 04-10-2008 #8You dont have install any USB CDROM driver for Debian installation. Try to toggle Legacy USB Support in BIOS.

I have the same one... I'm trying to install debian etch on my lenovo x61 laptop without docking station. So I tryed to connect usb dvd-rom Nec 3520a
may be I shold try another dvd, because any driver that installer offers me does not work with this dvd
one more question
can I boot from my usb flash and get an iso image not from the same flash but from ext3 partition of the hard drive?
