Hi,

I recently upgraded from etch to sid.

I am sometimes facing a boot hang with following message

---------
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init
no init found try passing init=bootarg

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-4) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs) [flashing curser]
---------

I have no idea why I end up here...
The funny thing is this does not happen all the time. Sometimes the booting is complete and I end up nicely in my gdm.

I have searched online and found somewhere to reinstall udev. That did not help either.

Linux experts...please let me know why this is happening. Also, what is this initramfs and how does it fit in the linux picture ?

Also, one more information, I am using a VGN-SZ330P sony laptop with an external hard disk having linux. I use grub. Current sid kernel version 2.6.24

thanks,
madan
