Updating My Sarge System? Need a refresher!
Hi all,
It's been awhile since I updated my Sarge (3.1) system. I noticed that recently Sarge's stable tree was updated for the final time, see Debian -- News -- Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 updated for details.
I was wondering what lines I need to have in my /etc/apt/sources.list to get up to date on all the Sarge packages and security fixes.
I'm in the U.S. FWIW if you can point me to the right mirrors and specifically the correct "deb http" and "deb-src" links for my /etc/apt/sources.list file.
Thanks,

I'm not an expert, but one thing to be sure of is that you do NOT have any lines with the "stable" branch specified (that will pick up packages for Debian 4.0 Etch, not Sarge). Make sure the branch specified is always "sarge".

Okay, yeah, I had that suspicion as well, that's why I didn't want to run an update with my current sources.list file.
Right now, it has a bunch of lines pointing to stable, but none have "/sarge/" anywhere in the source link. Just wondering how I can find the appropriate links to just update 3.1, I don't want any Etch packages obviously.
Anyone know the specific source links for sarge?

Just replace every instance of "stable" with "sarge". The hostname addresses should all be the same.

might not be a bad idea to update to etch...sarge is pretty old, and no more security updates = bad, unless the box doesn't touch the net, even etch will pretty soon be replaced by lenny, at which sarge would be really insecure anyway, at least you aren't running woody or potato
