    readme tar.gz file

    How do i open a readme file, i have unzipped a tar.gz file and produced a list but i am not able to go any further. I need to open the readme to find out how to install the file, i am using Kubuntu 7.04.
    I tried the make INSTALL but this did not work from the tutorial

    Most readme files are simple text files.

    If it won't open with a left-click, try right-clicking it and choose to open it with Kwrite, or Kedit.

    You might also try going into the directory where the README is held and typing:
    vim README.txt
