    Does your machine has internet access?
    How did you try to install those package?

    For gcc and anjuta, execute this
    Code:
    su -
apt-get install buid-essential anjuta
    Which Desktop Environment (GUI) are you planning to install? Gnome, KDE or anything else?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
