I have a dell b130 laptop,
I love to boot into runlevel 3 and use only my VTs, but when ever I close the lid, the monitor turns off, does not just go blank, powers off. and when i open it again I can't see anything, I can still interface with the shell.

I have disabled all my power save features including powersaved and none of the acpid events trigger anything like this.

Does anyone have any ideas how to turn the monitor back on or not allow my computer to turn it off?
I'm not running X so "xset dpms force on" will not work.
