Angry Wanted: Ubuntu like repositories in Debian

I find the debian Sid repositories to contain next to nothing.
I use the main, contrib, non-free, xgl, google and multimedia repos.
Still I don't seem to find any software I want in debian.

I used Ubuntu Hardy previously, and any software, even the most vague, is found in its default repositories.

I want a list of repositories I may add to debian so that I match its content to ubuntu. I also need commercial repositories, so that I may use apt-get to update flash, acrobat, etc.

    Can someone please help ?

Also, where can I get Ubuntu's Add/Remove programs tool in Debian ? I found it to be very useful.

debian repositories - Google Search and 2nd link gave me this
apt-get.org: Unofficial APT repositories - full list

probably more good stuff to be found with google.

I think gnome-app-install will give you the add/remove programs. I personally never liked it and just use synaptic. just a preference though.

Double check authenticity of sources before adding those. Package conflicts in various sources can break your system.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Well, I too prefer Synaptic most of the time, but I think this gnome-app-install feels more present. And I am looking for the Kubuntu version, whatever it is called.

And is there any good way to check authenicity of sources ?
Google Code has several useful .deb packages. Any repo for it ?
Is there a repo for Sourceforge and Freshmeat ? It would cover 99% of my needs.

In ubuntu, the basic universe, multiverse, restricted, commercial and main were enough for every single software. Too bad they don't contribute much upstream.

I'm not a Debian user, so I'm a little unfamiliar with the repos for it. But to download from Sourceforge or Freshmeat, you should be able to employ wget from the terminal. I know it's not really what you're looking for, but I hope it helps.

Yeah, wget works to download, but not really for the complete cycle. Wget won't find the dependencies and install them for you. I will install an out of date version from apt-get before I have to manually compile and find all the dependencies.

Well, I am in KDE, not gnome. Here, the problem is that Adept package manager has been removed from the repositories.

These debian folks have one major problem: they often try to remove our freedom of choice.

When I installed Ubuntu Hardy (the unstable slow thing) I was able to get every single software, that too a stable upto date version, in apt-get. Even firefox addons were in the repositories.

This sudden lack of software hurts, and I think its about time I switched off from debian, because the REASON I came to debian in the first place was due to high software availibility. I heard Arch User Repository is loaded. Maybe I will try it...
