    [SOLVED] Changing The Computer Name

I have a minor emergency situation. I yesterday I found out that the EeePC software created a computer name that I want to change for security reasons. I have posted this question in the appropriate Xandros topic, but I know that there are few Xandros users who drop in there. Since Xandros is apparently based on Debian, the best I can do is ask it again here:

How would you change the computer name on a Debian computer?

I'm pretty sure you could edit your /etc files for that. Open terminal, execute
    Code:
    vi /etc/sysconfig/network
    vi /etc/hosts
save, logout, and you should have it!

Thanks for the reply! Actually, it turned out to be a bit different. If I edited the files manually, they would have been

    /etc/hostname

    and

    /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.*.conf

but actually they have a special utility to do it called "kcontrol".

The difference in files surprises me. I was actually expecting the parameter files would have been the same. Oh well.

Well... to be honest, I don't run Debian, so I figured there would be a minor difference or two. But I'm glad you got it sorted out.
