windows cant print to Linux Printer. Help

Ok so I have my printer (HP P1006) connected to my Linux box and my windows PC needs to connect to my LInux Box to print anything obviously, but when I tell windows to print it thinks it does but nothing is printed, the documents being printed show up in my print manager while trying to print and then dissappear as it thinks they have been printed. WIndows has detected my LInux Printer no problem, well thats after samba etc is all setup. Is says the printer is online but never prints anything to the printer. Oh and by the way, yes, my LInux Box prints to the printer ok, its just the windows pc. So Im guessing the problem is with my cups or samba config files yeh? Can anyone help with this, thank you very much

It is a matter of how you configure the printer in Windows.
If the printer is set up with CUPS, it can be shared without
Samba. In Windows, configure it as a network printer,
    by its IP address.

Ah its ok I have figured it out now. Thanks anyway rcgreen

Another question though, why does it ask for a password when trying to access a windows pc over the LAN from my Linux Box? I thought this would have been the smbpasswd i set up in samba for my windows pc's but it doesnt except that so I cant access my windows shared folders. What username password would it be looking for? Thanks for helping

Sorry if its a dumb question, Im still a newbie with LInux

I don't know. I always have problems the other way around.
It seems that the samba shares on Linux that are insisting
    on a password.
