    Need old Package on Etch

    Hi,

I need a few old packages to run on current stable (etch 4.0). They are not in the package list for etch, but are for older versions.... Sarge 3.1 and back. Specifically I'm looking for ipxripd and mars_nwe. But I'd like a general answer as well as any specific comments.

Is it possible for me to use these older packages?

How do I do that? .... find the source and compile it on my Etch system?

Is this a reasonable thing to be considering?

    Thanks for any comments.

    John

Compiling from source is one option. The other option is to add sarge to your sources.list and try to install the packages from that repository. I am not sure how that will go, but its worth a try.

DO NOT add sarge repositories to the sources, mixing the system isn't a good idea.

you can download the packages from Debian -- Packages

and isttal them with dpkg -i

or replace that sowtwares with anothers.
