I Changed the Computer's Name, and Now I Have Problems
I went into the Networking settings to change the computer's name, because the name it had was long and unwieldy to type.
I rebooted the computer, and now I can't get into the networking settings, and I also cannot get into Terminal or Root Terminal.
Worse yet, I don't remember the computer's original name.
What do I do? Will I have to reinstall the entire OS?
I really, really need help on this one. I'm kind of stuck.
Thanks!

not able to log into the root account.
hi,
instead of booting up normally - when the grub comes up you can boot into safe mode. You will end up in a black screen with the "#" prompt - behold you are the root.
i am not sure but in this case I think you would need to run 'updatedb' as a root (works with redhat anyway)
thanks

I'll remember that trick. That will come in handy for future problems.
I have since reinstalled Debian, and I am now dealing with another problem.
Let the record state that I found a lot of sites that tell you how to change your computer's name in Linux, but they are rather fuzzy on the disturbing consequences of such an action.
Lesson learned!
Thank you for replying. I do appreciate it.
