X Server Problem
hello.I also have the same problem.and I also edit the xorg.conf but i am a amator.I have searchedin google and what i have done dident help.i have also tried ubontu and kubontu and also fedora but for abontu live after the frst menu there woud be a lack page and also for kubontu and fedora .i buy a 4dvd of debian it installed but it cannot start x-server like the problem that my freind had . I dont know what shoud I do my monitor is General F720 CRT.
graphic card is Nvidiea GForce 8500 GT and my processor is AMD 4400+ and i use sata hp DVD and sata western hard.

Hi and Welcome !
Which Linux distribution are you using right now? You have to install Nvidia Proprietary Driver. Its really easy to install in most of distros.
Have you tried to boot up in command line mode?It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

hello and thanks for reoply to my message .
now I have installed debian and I just a have a command line.I have searched on google and had a little chang on xorg.conf but it didnt help.I realy dont know how should i install Nvidia driver before running linux.could explain me more?
I like to have debian because I have Its program whit it.but I also want to know how I can get rid of ubuntu problem.

hello.
there would be a window which is written can not start x-server (your graohical interface) it may not setup correctly. do you want to view outut to find the problem after entering on yes there would be a window which is thre are a lot of information. at the end of that is written fatal error "no screen found".

hello.
I typed dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and it asked me some questions and done the setting . but when I typed startx the belloew eroor occered.
(EE)no devices detected
fatal server error
no screen found
