I'm not sure there are any e-books comparing the two, but there might be.
I'd think that the biggest differences are probably the package management and the kernel itself.
Maybe someone that knows more will chime in.oz

He's talking about the Debian kernel as opposed to the distribution. Since all linux kernels come from the same source, my guess is that this applies to the new Debian kfreebsd kernel. This is GNU userland and C library on top of the FreeBSD kernel, which is a completely new construct as of Debian Squeeze.
