    Exclamation What is this file?!

    I was looking around the directories for a file and I came across a file named:

    "["

    in /usr/bin.



    I've never noticed it before. And my only experiences with oddly-named files like that have turned out to be viruses (in Windows). So I am just wondering if anyone can shed a little light on the subject.

    BTW - I'm running a pretty clean install of Lenny (just installed it a few days ago) and here's a directory listing showing that file:

    I wouldn't worry about it too much, I have the same file on my machine and the permissions are all the same.

    I have it too...it appears to be an executable but doesn't respond well when run or when asked for help. I ran man against it and it links to the manpage for test. Could this be an alias for test?
