Portable repository
OK I have done a tiny bit of digging about but as this is just an idea I thought I would pose it as a question for anyone who has experience of this.
To give you an idea of the situation. We run a number of networks, one of which is a training network with no internet connectivity. Part of the training we deliver involves a familiarity with Linux clients. Specifically integration into a Windows environment. The training environment is in a geographically remote location and shuttling back and forth for an internet connection while a course is running isn't really feasible.
How difficult would it be to set up a repository on say a removable hard drive, which could be plugged into a Debian machine at the training location, which would act as a server. But also removed at the end of the course and synchronised with the main Debian repository on a separate system with an internet connection?
My plan is to have the students able to do a net install on a client attached to the training network. Setting up the repository seems straightforward enough. How easy would it be to make it portable?Last edited by monday90; 10-18-2008 at 08:36 PM. Reason: Edited for clarity

get usb hdd, format with ext3, mount it under the folder to want to keep the data, every time you need to give just a mount to appropriate location
