Debian netinst video problem
Hi,
Installed OK and loaded onto hard disk, but on boot up from hard disk, I have no screen. I have not set up internet yet. Machine is P4 1.7 GHz based, there were no configuration errors whilst working from the netinst CD 40r5 -i386.
Any ideas??
Thanx
Richard

Hi oz,
when booting from the CD for first install, I have VGA output to the monitor. I have gone through and answered all the setup questions and finalised the installation. The CD installation finishes, but then the VGA output to the monitor disappears, although the hard disk is doing something (waiting for an input I expect), but obviously I can't respond due to no information on the monitor. I have tried restarting the PC ( quickly ejecting the CD on bootup before machine is out of BIOS), but still with no VGA output, although the hard disk is active and seems to be booting up.
As a point aside, should I be using the netinst disk, as it seems to assume a network connection is already set up ( asks for IP number and hostname) but there is no option to set up a router...
Thanks for your help
Richard

You are saying there is nothing but a black screen after BIOS has finished?
Not even a text like "GRUB".Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.

Nope, not even a flashing cursor! The monitor is actually a TV with VGA input capability so default for no input is a blue screen...
