Getting modem recognized
I have a new, linux only computer with Debian etch installed. The processor is Intel Duo processor. Mobo is Gigabyte. I have most of the packages loaded. I have a Zoom 3095 modem which is said by the manufacturer to be linux compatable. I have loaded the included drivers. so far I have been unable to get the modem recognized. The modem is a USB modem. My printer is connected to the USB ports and works fine so I assume that the USB ports are working ok.
Please give explicit examples of any commands and how they are entered because I am very new in Linux and need to know exactly how and where to put commands.
I attempted to load a program called "hotplug" from the package. I got a warning message that I was trying to delete the kernel and replace it and dire consequences would result if I continued. Do you have any help or comments on this?
