    Debian has no sound


    Hi folks,


    Debian Etch Workstation


    Debian has been running as host OS on a Xen box, a server box, for something without problem. I don't need sound on server therefore I didn't care whether it works or not. On googling technical document some websites have sound. Therefore I'm trying to setup sound on it. Please advise where shall I check and how to add sound. TIA

    I had similar problem with my Debian Etch. After a lot of struggle and googling I got it working.

    After tons of searching online I narrowed it down to searching "Alsa Debian" and all I did was download the Alsa stuff and it started working...

    Sorry man I was drunk last night LOL... Anyway I cant be of much help since all I did was apt-get install "alsa packages" and went into the new volume applet that came up and turned it up and it worked...

    Never really had to get deep into it. But try these links...

    Oh and those Ubuntu Forums are always down... I guess you really shouldnt run Apache on a super noob operating system like ubuntu LOL...

    No. It is quite strange. On booting the text scrolling shows Alsa sound detected.
