    Can you tell us anything about the hardware in your machine, it's sort of necessary. If not, what make and model of computer is it.
    Debian 3 is very old, you may not find many people who remember how to configure it. The latest stable release is Debian 5 which was released Feb 14, 2009. You should look into Debian 4 at the oldest.
