installing .deb files on sidux
hi i have downloaded various .deb packages i run sidux and am confused as to how to install them i have tried running them through the root terminal all frustratingly to no avail come someone please help me as i am a uni student who is slowly converting over from the dark side(windows) and need just a little indication as to the right direction to take

simply use this command
# dpkg -i filename.deb

Which command are you executing to install .deb package? Could you post exact error message here, if any.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Yes, how are you downloading the .deb packages and from where? Are you using apt-get? Sidux officially recommends using only apt-get for package management. Here is a how to: APT HOWTO - Managing packages
