Just new to Linux. Installed Mepis, worked fine. After re-installing GRUB from the same CD lost all USB ports -- cannot print, use mouse, our USB flesh. Please help....

Hi and Welcome !
GRUB has nothing to do with USB ports. Did you change anything in BIOS? Toggle Legacy USB Support in BIOS.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Actually it did. When I reinstalled GRUB first time, I did it in "minimal" mode (to spare hassle of long CD booting and apparently it stayed like that after the installation. This morning I reinstalled GRUB from fully functioning live CD and my problems disappeared. Thanks anyway.
