    Wine isn't working

I just installed wine (I believe a fairly current verson) with "#apt-get install wine". However, it doesn't work...at all. I cannot run a program with "wine prog.exe", nor can I even configure wine with the wine configuration command. It always exits with a failure code of 1. It doesn't even create a .wine directory.

Maybe it hasn't created the .wine directory because the program you are trying to install won't run. What are you trying to install? Have you checked at Frank's Corner to see if it will run?

It seems to do it with every Windows program I try to run, as well as all the wine commands like the wine configuration utility.
