    Hi and Welcome !

Post the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list file here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

There may be a temporary problem with the US mirror, so you could either wait for a while and then try again, or open your sources.list file and temporarily change all instances of ''.us'' to ''.uk'', then close, save, and reload Synaptic. To open and edit your sources.list file, execute the following command in the terminal:
    Code:
    gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

YES NEVER MIND! I can get it to work if i can get the screen in just the right angle.

He meant paste the contents of the sources.list, like you pasted the error message.

Just ignore the error, as it appears to be minor and temporary, plus your sources look fine. Also, I noticed that non-free is enabled, so you may also want to add the unofficial multimedia repo, which you can do by following the instructions at Debian Multimedia Packages::Home.
