    Never tried such a thing, but I would look at audacity or ardour.

    ardour will do the best, create new blank stereo audio file.
    open two mono files copy and paste them into each channel on stereo.
    and play.

    you can install it from deb repositories.
    sudo apt-get install ardour
    Never make any misteaks.

    I think mixxx can do that. mixxx is open source DJ software. You could configure one channel to be the the master, and the other to be the monitor.

    mixxx is in the debian repositories.
    OS's I use: Debian testing, Debian stable, Ubuntu, Windows XP, Windows Vista
