    If you want to know about hardware compatibility, the easiest thing to do is boot up a Live CD and see if everything works. With Debian especially, the most likely trouble stop will be wireless.

    Sadly, wireless is a case-by-case issue; just try different drivers and software until you hit a winner. I had to follow a few specific guides to get my Eee PC working right.

    Hello and Welcome!

    I do agree with the LiveCD idea. Personally, if you're going for a Debian system I would suggest Knoppix. As far as the wireless, I wouldn't go installing drivers at random. What wireless card do you happen to have? When you boot up, even if you're still on a LiveCD, post the output of

    lol I didn't mean just any software; I had to be juat a tad specific.
