Java applets for debian

Hi Folks,
I've been trying to install javascript without success I've tried all sorts of downloads rather than trying to reconfigure which I'm not confident to do at this stage.
Is there any easy solutions or step by step instructions out there?

The processor is MIPS and the browser is bon echo.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

check the repositories

aptitude search java

will list all the java related packages
i checked the package list on debian.org and found that no sun java for mips only the gnu version of it are available
