    Need help installing Debian Lenny

I need help installing Debian Lenny.
I don't have much experience installing Debian.
I downloaded the first three CDs. The first one was KDE.
It only installed the first CD; it didn't give me the option to install the other two.
    I also didn't install KDE.
What do I need to do?
I'm not sure of all the packages I need, but I want utilities like rsync, wget, grep,
packages to find info such as dmidecode, ethtool, etc.
    multimedia, internet, Openoffice, vim,pdf.

I thought installing the first 3 CDs would give me a good install.
    I would appreciate suggestions.

    Thanks.

It's been a few years since I last installed Debian, but the best way that I've found for installing it is to use the netinstall method:

Debian -- Network install from a minimal CD

I personally prefer the "businesscard" install option.

Once you've installed the base system, you then install the additional packages that you want using your internet connection. Doing it this way, you only install what you want/need.

Hi and welcome. The Perfect Desktop: Debian Lenny, is a good place to start for help installing Debian. All the Perfect Desktop guides include a lot of overkill, like installing 5 or 6 different media players, two different cd/dvd burning programs and so on, but you can always remove what you don't want or like as you learn more.
