    jonantice, I followed the link given by reed9 on how to upgrade from Debian etch to lenny.

    Now, when I type apt-get upgrade, I'm told that 189 MB will be downloaded. However, when I type your suggestion i.e apt-get dist-upgrade, 539 MB needs to be downloaded.

    Note that I've already followed the steps given in the tutorial posted by reed9.

    OK. This thread is probably long dead, but do you REALLY wonder why most just plain folks use Windoze? Who the hell wants to go through all these contortions just to install something?

    user didn't asked which distro to use... and you say use *buntu.


    to author> making iceweasel default browser:

    in command line:
    $ xfce-setting-show
    then use Prefered applications or something like that and choose iceweasel

    default browser command is:
    $ exo-open --launch WebBrowser

    as i see you have installed from deb flash plugin... i am trying to paste libflashplugin.so to the right directory
