I successfully installed vmware workstation on my machine and I already made a XP virtual machine. What want to know is how to make a shortcut on the desktop to auto run XP virtual machine?

From what I recall there should be an option in VMWare to do this. I have done it with VMWare server and guess it would be the same with workstation. Got to admit I prefer Virtualbox now though. Does the workstation version have the same awful web interface as server?

I don't know, I haven't tried the web interface. The reason I prefer vmware over virtual w/c myself used when I was in windows because of direct3d. I've tried 3d in virtual box but its not that efficient as vmware.

Will you help me how to make a shortcut? or point me to other links. Thanks in advance.

Easy! if you are using vmware-server it allow you to make shortcut on desktop even remotely. I am not shure but vmware workstation does not allow to place it on Desktop. I prefer vmware-server.
