    debian installation error

Hi everyone, I'm having a little trouble installing Debian Sarge netinst on my computer. Its an older computer I built with a p4 3.00ghz. I've installed Debian before many times and have never seen this before, but what happens is that while installing ext3, the installation reliably stops at 33% and doesn't continue after hours of waiting. Any ideas what could be causing this?

You're doing a netinstall, so my guess is that it can't find any packages since Sarge reached end of life over a year ago.

They archive the old stuff at http://archive.debian.org, so you can probably point the installer to that server.

But why the heck are you using Sarge instead of Lenny???

Yeah I agree, dump the idea of sarge and go with Debian 5.0 lenny those specs are no problem at all for it. I'm running it on a p4 2.1ghz with out a hitch.

    Hello,
I faced yesterday with the similar problem. During the network installation process I chose a mirror and the installation stoped at 5% and doesn't continue after hour of waiting. How can I check installation process? ps command or log files?

I downloaded new iso image and installed Debian from it.
ctrl +alt +f1 opens alternate consoles.
alt+f4 shows installation process the same like tail -f /var/log/syslog.
alt + f5 returning back to gui mode.
