[SOLVED] Kill programs by name instead of PID?

If I open a program that I doesn't have a 'close' button (Nautilus desktop, gnome-panel, etc), is there a way to create a launcher or terminal command that would close that program for me instead of me having to us ps and kill?

You can use xkill to kill any program. Press Alt+F2 and type xkill. Make sure to click at correct location. If you click on Panel, Panel will be killed.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    killall

or sometime "killall <program name>" will also help ..
(it will kill all the programs with that name.)

    e.g: killall gnome-panel
    it will kill gnome-panel
