Unhappy Can't get Totem, VLC, or Mplayer to play flash video. Help?

*Mplayer will play the audio but not the video. "Error opening//initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device."

*VLC will do nothing at all.

*Totem will play for 3 secs in fast-foward w/no sound before getting data stream error., but within those few seconds it will pause and offer to search for necessary plugins (gstreamer 10 bad)..... but after installing them it will just say "data stream error" immediately without even starting to play.

*Totem-xine Totem xine will say a different error, "Video codec '0x0' is not handled. You might need to install additional plugins to be able to play some types of movies"

I have w64codecs ffmpeg and all the gstreamer (good bad ugly)... Is their a codec package im missing? i something corrupted ?

Before you go crazy, try installing flashplugin-nonfree - apt-get install flashpluging-nonfree . And while you're at it delete swfdec. That's an open source flash app that I feel just doesn't work quite like the original.
