Hi there everyone. I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong thread, but I thought it would be appropriate because of my goal to build up a minimal distro into debian.

Anyways, I am equipped with ttylinux, the minimal distro, and a live cd. So far I have managed, with the livecd, to install apt-get, as well as many other debian packages through chroot onto ttylinux, which is on my hard drive.

Unfortunately, when I try to boot from that distro, I get this problem:

Basically it is saying that it cannot determine my tty name when I type in root. I do not have much of an understanding for this tty, so if someone could fill me in on how to get the root account working, or even how I can load straight into the DE, (which I believe is GNOME,) that would be great.

More info can be found here: w w w.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/what-do-i-need-to-do-to-get-gcc-binaries-working-on-a-similar-system-772509/

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Sorry for the link filter evasion, it's necessary so I can provide more info.
