    Newbie system backup

    Hello
I know this has been asked a multitude of times, but please forgive 'cause.....
    1. this looks like too much fun to be work
    2. getting rid of Most M.S. boxes in my house
    3. I want to learn
4.getting tired of playing video games on my PC ( can you believe that?)
    5. Its Friday after work, and already had too many shots.... of whiskey

Anyway my first newbie question -- and you really do not have to tell me the answer just point me in the right direction....
I am familiar with Norton's Symantec Ghost for Windows, Is there something similar that I can use to back up debian?
I know that you can repair a damaged OS by sticking in the bootable CD of Debian (ISO that I downloaded), but on my internet provider it is too slow if I need to rebuild from scratch.

    Welcome to the forums!

You could use Clonezilla to clone your system if you wish. Another option, and the one that I use personally, is a liveCD version of Acronis True Image that is based on Linux. It's been working perfectly for me the last 5 or 6 years. If you are a licensed user of True Image, you can freely download the liveCD version from their website.

    Thank you for the info

    Thanks Ozar
I will look into both apps. I remember seeing an online tutorial and will dive into that tomorrow. So much I want to do, now that I can use my older PCs, just need to stay focused.
And will look at the FAQs and all the other stuff you pointed me to.
