[SOLVED] Installation question
Hello,
I have wireless usb adapter - D-LinkDWA-110. I am not sure if I am able to install Debian via network installation.
Is it possible to install Debian using 1 DVD or I have to download all 5 disks?
Thanks,

Hi!
I was able to install my Debian Lenny through the internet but I had to download and burn in a CD the ISO image
Index of /debian-cd/5.0.3/i386/iso-cd
I just got the CD-1-iso and used it to pull the other things I need.
I'm sure there are also other ways to do it. Just wanted to share my experience
. You might want to give it a try.
Cheers!
By the way, I think you would need to be connected to an internet cable to be able to make a successful installation. Wireless can be set-up afterwards.

I agree with joe_cuek. There is no need to download other 4 DVDs. Just install Debian from first DVD, configure Wireless and install other packages from sources, if necessary.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I've never been able to install a Debian OS, or any other distro for that matter, via wireless. Never. Not from scratch. It could be because of the hardware I have. Or just me. So my procedure is to run an ethernet cable to my laptop (or my wireless desktop), install it that way and tweak my system to enable my wireless card. After that, no problems adding or deleting whatever program or app I want wirelessly. Maybe there is a better way, but that's the way I've done it in the past. It works for me and I'm sticking to that. So there!
As far as what ISO to download and burn, I've been using the Netinstall CD for the longest. It downloads in the quickest time and installed the basics. "The basics" - don't let that throw you off. You'll end up with a fully working system. From this you can add, via Sysnaptic, all the apps you'll need.
The Netinstall CD really is the best way to go.

Hello again,
I've installed Debian (basic + desktop environment) using 1 DVD. Thanks for attention to my question.
