C-Media Audio Card ---> help?

Hi!

I'm using a C-Media CMI8738 Audio Card but...

Sound quality is REALLY BAD! and sometimes the sound mutes!

I don't know if the driver is outdated (i'm new at linux and i don't want to do something bad...)

What I do?

P.S: I'm using ALSA and, sorry for bad english.

Hi,

I suggest you to use alsamixer to increase all the channels are muted. From a terminal type alsamixer use the left & right arrow keys to navigate the Up & down arrow keys for raising or lowering the volume the m key to mute or unmute then Esc to exit.

This may sometimes be caused by the sliders being in the red in alsamixer.
