    [SOLVED] Flash - Hulu

    Hello all,

All of a sudden I couldn't watch movies on Hulu anymore, so I have just upgraded Debian from the Etch to Lenny, because I wanted to update to the newest version of Adobe flash. In Iceweasel under add-ons, it says that I have the newest (10.0 r42) version. The old one (9.0 r124) is still listed. It is listed as disabled, white version 10 is listed as enabled.

But I still can't watch movies on Hulu. Any suggestions on what to do?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Best wishes
    Thomas

Are you by chance using a 64 bit system?

There is a known problem with 64 bit flash and hulu.

I think you are right. Running "uname -m" gives me "i.686". So I guess that is 64 bit? Can I return to 32bit somehow?

    No, i686 is 32 bit.

Are you able to watch flash videos on other sites? I can only guess that the old flash being listed is somehow still a problem. It should be uninstalled entirely. I would remove any and all flash installations you have and then reinstall the latest flash.

If I have the version 9 enabled, then I can watch videos on other sites like youtube and google videos. But if I enable version 10 and disable version 9, then I can't watch them.

If version 9 is enabled and 10 disabled, then when I try to play a video on Hulu I get the message "Express Install is not supported on this operating system. To upgrade please visit Flash Player Download Center."

If 10 is enabled, I don't see this message.

    Unistall flashplugin

    Hi again,

I have tried to uninstall all the flash-plugins. I successfully uninstalled version 10, but I don't know how to get rid of version 9.

How did you install version 9 to begin with? I take it not through the package manager?

I would recommend removing any manual installations of flash and installing as described here.

    Thanks you!

That seemed to do it. I only found one of the files that one had to removed, but I guess that was good enough.

Iceweasel crashed the first time after installing flash again, but now it all seems to work fine.

    Thanks again,
    Thomas
