display problem while installing Lenny

Hi all,
I have a Intel 865 Motherboard with 512 MB Ram. My monitor is a CRT acer AC51X. While installing Lenny, at the begining only installer says Undefined video mode. I select VESA drive with 1024X768 resolution and it completes the instalation in graphical mode then. But after installation, it fails to start the X server. So i could not use it.
Any suggestion or reference to get rid of this is welcome.

Hello & Welcome rtwk!

I suggest you try to do a fresh reinstall and maybe try to double check on the choices you click along the way. Just to make sure.

Anyway, may I ask if your using a DVD for a complete install or just an installation CD?

any specific error output while starting X? i had a similar problem, X started but the xorg.conf was not configured well, so the monitor said "wrong frequency" or so.
hope this helps, although i think i'm still a newbie
