    External DVD (USB)

    After installing Lenny from an Asus SDRW-08D1S-U USB DVD drive, the drive is not listed:

    $ lsusb
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID ..... Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub x 4

    If the drive was connected before boot, and I remove the drive after boot, I get some kernel messages ending in a message saying: Disabling IRQ #23. This doesn't happen if I connect the drive after boot.

    Is this a kernel problem? Does the install OS run a kernel that is different from what is available in the installed OS? The host is a new Asus EeePC 1001PX.

    Just tried the drive in another Lenny machine with the same kernel, and it worked perfectly. I should have tried this earlier, but I put in another USB device and it has the same problem. Gonna try another OS on the same harware...
