I should have included this earlier, also the output of these commands would be really useful too.
    Code:
    fdisk -l
    Code:
    mount
    That's a lowercase L in the fdisk command, not a 1

I'm not sure if this last command will work on your system or not, you can try.
    Code:
    usb-devices

also, i logged in as root, and created /media/stick

    then: cd /media/stick/

    but when i tried:
    asus-561547352:/media/stick> mount /dev/sdc1

    i got:

    mount: can't find /dev/sdc1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

    what am i doing wrong?

    thanks again!

Ok, so I would try this.

Login as root first then try this command.
    Code:
    mount /dev/hdc /media/stick
The data should be in /media/stick. Paste any errors you get.

mount /dev/hdc /media/stick did not work:
mount: special device /dev/hdc does not exist

    but it worked with:
    mount /dev/sdc1 /media/stick

    thank you very much!
